So…. What is this role exactly?

This is a brand-new role with a truly unique opportunity to make a real difference to not just our customers but have a direct impact on how we do things here at YHG.

In this role you will play a key part in driving a culture of continuous improvement and understanding performance here at YHG. You will be a master collaborator who in addition to being able to understand business process, will also be a data whiz & can identify trends and issues proactively based on business information and stakeholder engagement. 

You will be feeding all this valuable insight straight into senior management and as it is a newly created role there is an opportunity to make it your own!

We are looking for? A highly passionate data driven individual, who is analytical, solutions focused & is genuinely curious about getting to root cause issues and making improvements. 

That’s not all however, you must have a real enthusiasm for continuous improvement and be a real people person, who can and apply themselves to a range of stakeholders and business areas. 

What will my working week look like? 

No two days will be alike as this is a genuine cross cutting role where you will get to deep dive into lots of areas and triangulate multiple data sets.

You also work closely with the Risk & Business Performance team to review KPI’s performance results and assurance activity within YHG. 

You will however be homebased, living within the Northwest, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses.  You’ll be required to visit our Head Office approximately once a week.

What will I be responsible for doing?

You will be doing data analysis wizardry! leveraging lots of information to identify issues & collaborate with teams to translate insights into actionable solutions. 

You will be unpicking processes and undertaking end to end reviews to understand how it “should” v how it “does” work and how we make it better. Identifying key risks and mitigations and actions to ensure we keep the control environment working effectively.  

You will also be asking if the right data exists to understand our performance better and analysing data to get to the nub of issues, by being inquisitive whilst also supportive & collaborative.

You will play a key part in supporting the business with embedding a cohesive lesson learnt and root cause analysis process which will lead to YHG enhancing our services and improving overall performance. 

Providing insights on trends to senior management to assist with decision making will be a given so excellent communication and reporting writing skills is a must.

One of the great things about this role is the variety! You will be working with all parts of the business and at all levels, so it’s crucial that you can be engaging, supportive but have a real eye for detail.

To be a successful as Business Improvement Officer, here at YHG, you will have….

  • A high degree of personal initiative and autonomy with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience of working in an improvement role and undertaking process reviews.
  • Ideally knowledge or experience of methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and / or root cause analysis methodologies. 
  • Strong analytical skills, be able to think strategically whilst also having an eye for detail & making sure you cross the I’s and dot the T’s. 

Being able to translate complex information simply and with meaningful outcomes is a must. Ideally you will be a …….

  • Naturally inquisitive person, always asking why and wanting to get to root cause of issues. 
  • Someone who can influence & challenge others and not just accept what’s presented to them.
  • A keen problem solver and self-starter who has the confidence and ability to talk to a range of stakeholders. 
  • Someone with a genuine curiosity to learn, improve and help others to also.
